PepCheck is an iPhone app published by the American Academy of Peptide Medicine (AAPM). It grades how trustworthy a peptide's source is and how much clinical oversight stands behind it, based on where the peptide came from and your answers. It does not test what is inside a vial, and it does not give medical advice. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and how you can delete it.
You can check a peptide without signing in. For each check we store:
Anonymous checks are stored without any name, email address, device identifier, or other information that identifies you. The app also keeps your last twenty checks on your phone so you can reopen them; that list never leaves the device unless you sign in and claim a check.
Signing in is optional. It lets your checks follow you to a new phone and lets you upload a certificate of analysis. When you sign in we collect:
Checks you make while signed in, or claim after signing in, are linked to your account.
If you upload a certificate of analysis for a lot, the PDF or photo is stored privately on our servers and read by a human reviewer, who can only ever raise the grade of the check it belongs to. Certificates are linked to your account and to the check they were uploaded for. They are never shared with other users or with the facility named on them.
With your permission, the camera is used for two things: to read the code printed on a label (a GS1 DataMatrix or QR code) and to photograph a certificate of analysis. Label codes and label photos are read on your phone and are not uploaded. A certificate photo is uploaded only when you choose to submit it. The app never records video or audio.
PepCheck contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not collect your location, contacts, health records, or payment information, and it does not sell or rent any data.
In aggregate and without identifying anyone, checks may be used to study how peptides reach patients. No individual check or account is shared with third parties for their own purposes.
We rely on the following providers to run the app, each bound by its own privacy terms: Clerk (sign-in), Vercel (hosting and private file storage for certificates), and Neon (database). They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide the service.
The “Share this result” button creates an image of your grade card and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Nothing is shared until you choose an app or a person to send it to.
Open the Account tab, sign in, and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your account, every check linked to it, and every certificate you uploaded. Checks you made without signing in hold no identifier and cannot be traced back to you; to clear the list on your phone, delete the app. You can also ask us to delete your data by writing to conference@pepmed.org.
Account data and linked checks are kept for as long as your account exists. Anonymous checks are kept without any identifier. Certificates are deleted with the account they belong to.
PepCheck is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 18.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new revision date, and a substantive change is shown again inside the app before you continue.
